The table
Breakfast. Full English or South African-style breakfast: eggs (fried, scrambled, or boiled), bacon, boerewors (local sausage), grilled tomato, toast or bread rolls. Cereals, porridge, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, and juice.
Lunch. Often a bush lunch during tracking or hunting trips: sandwiches, cold meats, salads, fruit, and snacks. Water, soft drinks, or locally brewed tea.
Dinner. Braaivleis (South African barbecue) featuring game meat (impala, kudu, springbok), beef, or chicken. Stews or potjies (slow-cooked dishes in a cast-iron pot) with seasonal vegetables. Pap (maize porridge) or rice as a staple. Dessert: fruit, malva pudding, or traditional sweets.
